“A wonderful friendly athmophere at Zandbergen, we felt like real guests in the house. The owner went out of his way to make everybody happy.”

“I do travel a lot. This is an absolutely lovely hotel. will come back and would recommend it to friends. there are also lots of nice restaurants in the neighborhood, so dont hurry to the very center for a tourist treat. very easy/cheap to get from the central station by tram, dont waste money on a cab :).”
Guest name: NS, United Kingdom

“Overall the Zanbergen was everything we wanted and required from a hotel. Highly recommended”
Guest name: Gary And Brenda Steele, Australia

“Well reviewed hotel, worthy of praise. The rooms make remarkably efficient use of very small space. Hotel personnel are uniformly pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast. The Zandbergen sits outside the main tourist area, a short tram ride from Central Station (#2); you can easily walk to the main musea in under 10 minutes. The neighborhood has decent restaurants and the lovely Vondel Park. Downside: very steep stairs, no elevator, so not for those unable to climb. It's not some fabulous wonder in Amsterdam, but it is a fine hotel, reasonably priced, with exceptionally nice people.”

I was born -and raised- in a house half a block east of the Hilton hotel. Now my grand children want to see the place I grew up, and so we are looking for a hotel near there. I still know the area quite well, so we are planning to make reservation for a family room for late Sept.2011. We'll get in touch in December this year. ......Ralph.

My sister and I truly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Zandbergen at the begining of May. The location is perfect--so close to the #2 tram. Breakfast was delicious--we loved the croissants! Henk and all of his staff were so nice and helpful. I will recommend Hotel Zandbergen to anyone I know who is visiting Amsterdam (including my boss who is visiting in November!).

It was our first visit in Amsterdam and we had a wonderful stay in Hotel Zandbergen. The hotel is very conveniently located and you can easily reach all the attractions. The hotel staff was friendly and cooperative and the owner really went out of his way to make sure we had assistance and good advice. We've had a fantastic stay in amazing Amsterdam. The hotel was lovely - the family room nice and spacious and the private patio would have been great too if it hadn't been winter! Hotel Zandbergen is very well situated for the Vondelpark, local brasseries and for using the trams. Henk was a very knowledgable and generous host. We hope to come back soon.

We can highly recommend Hotel Zandbergen! Henk and his team are great hosts!
We enjoyed our entire stay and the hospitality was amazing! The rooms are sweet and clean, free wireless internet is a special offer and very useful for making plans for sightseeing or looking for restaurants etc.
The position of the hotel is great. The Vondelpark with the film museum is just one street away, a tram station is situated a few metres to the hotel and the streets there have a lot of cute corners to relax and enjoy the time in Amsterdam.
Maybe we will make a re-visit next New Year's Eve to enjoy the special atmosphere in the city and in the hotel again.
Henk, you are the best! Thank you very much! Thanks to the team, everything was fine. See you soon ;)

The room is very clean, as well as bathroom. Staffs are friendly, breakfast is very good. Only one smalldefect is the wireless signal in the room no. 6 where I stayed was very weak and I couldn't get in internet in room. It's a nice experience to stay in this hotel and it's recommended to stay.

Excellent hotel, perfect location with the museums and park easy walking distance and the main tram through the centre of Amsterdam to the train station at your doorstep. The staff and owner couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. When we asked the children their favourite part of the trip, they said the hotel!!! Highly recommended.

The single room is small but adequate, and it is very clean. The hotel is in a quiet area, which is good, especially after a long day of sightseeing in the busy city center. Both the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmusuem are within walking distance, and one can easily get there early to beat the crowd. The hotel is right next to the Vondel Park, and I enjoyed very much walking through it each morning on the way to Leidesplein or other areas. The hotel owner / host Henk and his staff are exceptionally hospitable. Their friendliness as well as thoughtfulness made my stay there very enjoyable. Breakfast at the hotel is of very good quality. Although the items are the same every morning, there is sufficent variety, including ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereal, croissant, bread, fresh fruit, juices, and wonderful coffee. At 7:30 each morning, I enjoyed my breakfast there very much, with two cups of nice coffee that Henk made. He also brought me newspaper to read. Getting to and from the hotel is very easy. The tram #2 line makes a stop on Emma Straat, which is half a block away. The tram ride between the hotel and the Centraal Station is about 25 minutes. Zandbergen is truly a nice and inviting hotel. I definitely would stay there again next time I am in Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Zandbergen. It is in a quiet location but only a short tram ride from the centre of Amsterdam. The room was very modern with a great tv, patio area and clean private bathroom. Bed sheets and towels were cleaned every day. The breakfast was nice and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Only improvement would be with tea and coffee facilities in the rooms although this was available on room service with a charge.

Hotel Zandbergen proves that family-friendly means letting your children know that they are valued guests. At the wonderful breakfast, peaceful classical music provided the background as our host answered questions about our plans for the day. He encouraged us to walk and use public transit as much as possible. He suggested places to eat that our children enjoyed and gave tips on the best time of day to bring children to museums and attractions. He even found a babysitter on short notice when an illness meant one of our children could not make it to an evening concert. Thank you, Henk, for making us comfortable.

Besides the fact that the hotel is well-located, the hospitality and cordiality of the personal service and attention really surprised us. It's been a year since we stayed with you. The wonderful memory lingers. We travel a lot and rarely find the wonderful treatment we had with you. Catherine and I use your service to your guests as a reference when we stay at a hotel. We ask ourselves," Was the service as caring and sincere as the service we received at Hotel Zandbergen?" We stayed at the Hotel Zandbergen along with another couple for two nights and found it to be excellent. Henk D. de Lugt, the owner and manager, along with all the staff were great. They helped with dining recommendations and reservations and made suggestions for activities that we never would have known about. As we were there on a Wednesday, Henk suggested that we might enjoy going to the noon open rehearsal at the Cencertgebouw (the Amsterdam Concert Hall). We went and it was outstanding – a high point of our visit. The rooms are small but they were comfortable and spotless. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum and it is on a major tram line so it is very convenient for reaching any part of the city. An excellent choice.

We look forward to visiting your hotel in the future. Thanks again,

I couldn't be more satisfied with my choice of Hotel Zandbergen for a 5-night business stay. My business was conducted downtown at the University, but the proximity and frequency of the trams made getting there and to other tourist sights very easy. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, rates are reasonable, internet access is available, and the breakfast selections were fresh and plentiful. I will definitely choose Zandbergen again.

We spent the first week of June, 2008 at Hotel Zandbergen and loved everything about it: our huge room with kitchen and balcony, the wonderful breakfasts and the friendly and efficient staff. Henk is terrific. We walked a lot – the museums, the Concertgebouw and Vondel Park are close -- but we also made much use of the tram, which stops just down the street. We enjoyed staying in a residential neighbourhood where we got an idea of how people live in Amsterdam. They really know how to make use of bicycles.

Still savoring our time in Europe, and especially in Amsterdam under the friendly wing of everyone working at the Zandbergen. You all made the time there so very pleasant.
We loved our large room, and kitchen. Breakfast each day was a treat....sent us off to explore the city well fortified. The croissants rival anything Paris has to offer!
As we've said before, you've combined the best of an inn, a B&B, and hotel, The location is excellent, the convenient tram, the museums, and Vondel Park for a stroll in the evening. And...this is one city we never have to search for a place to stay. .......the Zandbergen is it.
Thanks, too, Henk, for steering us to the Purse Museum, and the new library.....quite different from each other, but both real finds. And...I don't know if we'd have found them on our own.

All good wishes.

I just spent a very short 2-day stay at the Zandbergen Hotel and thought it was great! Henk (and his staff), the owner was most accommodating, helpful and friendly. My room/bath were immaculate. We want to say "Thank You!" for all of your help while we were in Amsterdam. We just happened to pick your hotel off the Internet and we enjoyed our stay with you very much. We appreciated all of your help with directions around the city and the Itinerary that you suggested for places of interest and getting us tram tickets and also recommending a good restaurant to eat - on our last night in Amsterdam. We also appreciated your help in arranging for taxis to the Port for our Cruise. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend your Hotel to anyone who might be travelling to Amsterdam. But I do hope that you get your wish of an elevator. We had lots of luggage - it certainly would be easier on your back. Dear Henk, Thank you for our lovely stay in Amsterdam, and for the good directions you gave us to Brugge. We enjoyed the drive through the Netherlands and along the North Sea, but didn't stop at villages, as we wanted to maximize the time we had in Brugge, which was indeed a lovely place. Your kindnesses and suggestions while we were in Amsterdam were very helpful. We had a wonderful time. It was a perfect start each morning to have delicious coffee and breakfast, in a pretty room. We very much liked the neighborhood the hotel is in, and enjoyed walking through it at the start and end of each day. We appreciated the excellent restaurants that were nearby. A group of four of us stayed at the Hotel Zandbergen for the weekend to celebrate my husbands fortieth. The rooms in this hotel vary due to the age and we had a good sized double room on the lower floor. The cleaner entered our room as we left for breakfast Saturday morning and made an excellent job. The staff are extremely helpful and the location is just right, out of the centre but not too far. Trams are frequent and a cheap source of transport. Will certainly be going again. Thankyou!!!!!!!!

We have had an absolutely wonderful time. Our first visit to The Netherlands, and we have fallen in love with this friendly and welcoming country. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, full of charm and Robert and Margaret's warm welcome has been the icing on the cake of a wonderful trip.

What a perfect spot! Comfortable, Dutch clean, contemporary accomodations right on the main tram line into town. Fine breakfast and friendly, helpful service at reasonable price. Couldn't ask for more if you want the Museum District.

This lovely small hotel proved to be the perfect place for us to stay during our week-long visit to Amsterdam in December 2005. Robert and Margaret and their equally charming, capable staff are helpful, friendly, and efficient. The accommodations themselves are impeccably maintained and immaculate, and the breakfast generous and satisfying. We also found the Hotel Zandbergen to be in an ideal location. It is in a relatively calm, peaceful, residential area just beside the Vondelpark, a short walk from the Concertgebouw, Museumplein, and neighboring shops and restaurants. Any place that seems too far to walk can be easily accessed by taking the number 2 tram which stops just a few steps away at Emmastraat. We were in Amsterdam for my 50th birthday and, upon returning to our room on that night, were surprised and delighted to find a bottle of sparkling wine left to help us celebrate. This kind gesture is emblematic of the care and personal attention you can expect at this very well-run hotel. I'll look forward to staying there again when I return to Amsterdam, as I certainly hope I will. For value, quality of service, and location, it is hard to imagine a better choice. Thank you all very much for helping to make our trip so enjoyable. Eric Brooks Chapel Hill North Carolina USA

Immaculately clean, pleasant, helpful owners and staff, great location, very quiet and very reasonably priced. What more could anyone want, we will definately return to this hotel again and will advise friends to use it.
